Criteria Considerations for Nomination Qualification

All nominees must have outstanding achievements and contributions in the field of athletics, representing the Menominee Area Public Schools. Nominees may be living or deceased in all categories.

Athlete

A person may be nominated for induction into the Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame in the category of athlete after a minimum of (20) years have passed after graduation.

Potential Criteria:

  • Outstanding achievement as a MHS Athlete
  • Outstanding achievement at a state/national level
  • Outstanding achievement in any other athletic arena – Olympics, amateur festivals, sports not offered at MHS
  • Outstanding achievement beyond high school athletics – college career, professional athletics, coaching and commitment to community
  • Coach

    A person may be nominated for induction into the Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame in the category of coach after a minimum of five (5) years have passed since last coaching.

    Potential Criteria:

  • Number of years and sports coached for Menominee Area School District or at other successful levels
  • Conference, Regional, State Tournament and Championships while coaching in Menominee
  • Development and growth of the sport while coaching in Menominee
  • State or National recognition for coaching achievements
  • Professional affiliation and commitment to community and profession
  • Meritorious Service

    A person may be nominated for induction into the Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame in the category of Meritorious Service at any time at the discretion of the Board of Directors and Nomination/Selection Committee.

    Potential Criteria:

  • This award will be based on the contributions said individual has made in the community and in the area of sports in the Menominee Area Public Schools. It will include but not be restricted to participation as a player, coach, official, organizer, counselor or donor.
  • Number of years in support of athletics in Menominee
  • Overall commitment to the athletic programs of the Menominee Area Public Schools
  • Team

    A team may be nominated for induction into the Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame in the category of Team after a minimum of twenty (20) years have passed after graduating.

    Potential Criteria:

  • Achievement at league and state levels
  • Distinction brought to Menominee Athletics
  • Rules

    Any individual who is nominated and meets the above criteria will be considered by the Board of Directors and Nomination/Selection Committee and placed in the nomination pool.

    Nominations must be made on offical Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame Candidate or Nomination Forms that will be made available through the Executive Secretary or downloaded from the MHSAHOF website. Once the forms are completed in full, they must be returned to the Executive Secretary with all other available information regarding the candidate included.

    Initial nominations for the first group of inductees will be generated by the Board of Directors and the Nomination/Selection Committee, along with nominations from the public.

    There must be a minimum of forty (40) individual candidates, ten (10) team candidates and ten (10) meritorious service candidates in these pools at all times.

    No individual living inductee will be formally inducted without his or her approval.

    Each selected nominee will be notified as soon as possible following his or her selection.

    Awards

    Each individual inducted will be honored by an appropriate display at Menominee High School.

    Each individual will receive an award commemorating his or her induction into the Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
